Vikings Tops Virginia Union on Senior Night

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- On Thursday Evening, the Elizabeth City State Vikings Volleyball team 
(18-12, 15-2 CIAA) hosted the Virginia Union Panthers (11-16, 4-13 CIAA) on senior night. The Vikings would sweep the Panthers 0-3 (16-25, 11-25, 15-25).

In the first set, the Lady Vikings would secure a 16-25 victory over the Panthers and would lead the set in hitting percentage at 75%. The Vikings would jump out to earlier but would settle in and record 15 kills to the Panther's 4. On the defensive side of the net, the Vikings would record 6 blocks to end the first set.

The second set would be a block party for senior Elizabeth Kellum who recorded 3 blocks Clarke Blakemore added 5, who led the lady Vikings defensively in the second. The Panthers would have one lead in the set. The Vikings would secure the second set with a score of 11-25.

The Lady Vikings would win the third set 15-25. In this set, the Vikings and Panthers would go back and forth but the Vikings would steady the ship sweeping the Panthers in three sets.

The Vikings return to action Tuesday, November 14, in the CIAA quarterfinals as Elizabeth City State hosts the Rams of Winston-Salem State. First Serve is slated for 6 PM.
