ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Lady Vikings fell short on Thursday night 50- 58 in the R.L. Vaughan Center against Bowie State University.

The Vikings drop to 8-17 overall on the season, 4-9 in the CIAA.

Sophomore forwardÂ
Sireann Pitts (Raleigh, NC) was the leading scorer for the Vikings recording  a total of 12 points.

Senior forwardÂ
Devona Stell (Atlanta, GA) followed up with 11 points;  and 14 rebounds. Stell continues to pioneer the Vikings on both ends of the floor.

Bowie State University was offensively led by Dynaisha Christian with 18 points and Kyaja Williams  controlled the boards with 10 rebounds.Â

ECSU shot 41.5 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from behind the arc, and 44.4 percent at the line.

BSU shot 46.3 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from behind the arc, and 20.0 percent at the line.Â

Both teams battled it out in the first half; but the Bulldogs claimed their largest lead of the half with 2:22 left to play and a 26-20 edge over the Vikings.

The Vikings maintained their composure and made the necessary defensive adjustments to close out the quarter on a 6-0 run with two key layups from Pitts.Â

The score was knotted at 26-all going into halftime.

Bowie State outscored the Vikings 32-24 in the second half taking advantage of 17 points off of ECSU turnovers to claim the 58-50 win.
The Vikings will be back in action on Wednesday in Elizabeth City, NC to take on Saint Augustine's University at 5:30pm.
