ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Vikings Suffer a tough 50-49 loss to the Panthers of Virginia Union on Wednesday night.
The Vikings drop to 7-12 overall on the season, 3-4 in the CIAA
Senior forwardÂ
Devona Stell (Atlanta, GA) continues to pioneer the Vikings  on both ends of the floor capturing her 10th double-double of the season with 17 points and 15 rebounds.
Sophomore forward Â
Sireann Pitts  (Raleigh, NC)  followed up in scoring and rebounding with her eight points and eight rebounds on the night.Â

The Panthers were led in scoring by Shameka Mcneil.

ECSUÂ shot 35 percent from the field, 14.3 percent from behind the arc, and 37.5 percent at the line.

VUUÂ shot 33.9 percent from the field, 18.8 Â percent from behind the arc, and 29.4Â percent at the line.Â
The Vikings controlled the first quarter outscoring the Panthers 17-10 as Stell dominated inside early for ECSU.
ECSU led the Panthers by a small margin of 25-21 going into halftime, but the Vikings came out explosive in third quarter to create their largest scoring gap of the game leading VUU 41-27.

The Vikings maintained their lead for most of the fourth quarter, but the panthers continued to chip away at it.

With 1:19 left in the game a three-pointer by McNeil cut the Vikings lead to 49-48.

Both teams relied on their defense for the remainder of the game, but the Panthers were able to score the final basket of the contest claiming the game with 0.01 secs left to play and no time for the Vikings to respond.Â
The Vikings will take on the Trojans of Virginia State University on Saturday, January 25th. Tip off is slated for 2 pm.Â
