Box Score ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Kedrick Patterson threw for 265 yards for Elizabeth City State but it wasn't enough as Fayetteville State defeated ECSU, 55-12, in the 22nd Annual Down East Viking Football Classic held at the Rocky Mount Athletic Stadium on Saturday night.

The Vikings were led by Kedrick Patterson who had a career night for ECSU. The sophomore quarterback completed 12 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns. Gregory Bryan led the rushing attack as he gathered 79 yards off of 12 rushes. Dajuan Greene had his best performance in a Viking uniform, collecting 7 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns.

Fayetteville State (3-1, 1-0 CIAA) came out and scored two rushing touchdowns in the first quarter as Stevie Green score the first of his three on a 32-yard run on the Broncos first drive. Donshel Jetton notched his first touchdown on four yard rush at the 7:11 mark in the first stanza.

The Broncos added two more touchdowns to start the second quarter as Richard Latimer connected for a 16 yard and 60 yard touchdown pass to push Fayetteville State to a 28 point advantage with 7:26 left in the first half.

Elizabeth City State (0-4, 0-1) did not stop fighting as Kedrick Patterson connected with Dajuan Green for a 75 yard touchdown pass with 5:08 remaining in the second quarter.

That positive momentum would not last long as FSU's Johnnie Glaspie returned the ensuing kickoff 89 yards to set up Stevie Green's one yard touchdown run just 20 seconds after the big play for the Vikings.

The Patterson-Greene connection was strong on Saturday night as the two connected again for another touchdown pass with one second remaining in the first half, to push the halftime margin to 35-12.

The second half was all Broncos, as they would flex their muscles rushing the ball with three rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter to bring the final margin to 55-12.

ECSU will be back in action on Saturday, October 5th as they will travel to Raleigh, N.C. to face off against St. Augustine's University. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. from the George Williams Athletic Complex.
