Vikings Go 2-1 on North Carolina Road Trip, Falling to FSU 60-47

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Lady Vikings suffered a 60-47 loss to the Broncos of Fayetteville State University on Monday night.
 
The Vikings drop to 4-6 overall on the season, 2-2 in the CIAA.
 
Senior forward Devona Stell (Atlanta, GA) led the way for the Vikings on both ends of the floor collecting her fifth double-double of the season with 17points and 11 rebounds. Deal added 11 points for the Vikings. 
 
The Broncos were offensively led by Katisha Hyman with 20 points, while Chantel Williams had 13 rebounds.
 
ECSU shot 37 percent from the field, 18.2 percent from behind the arc, and 50 percent at the line.
 
FSU shot 34.4 percent from the field, 35 percent from behind the arc, and 64.3 percent at the line. 
 
Both teams dominated in the paint, but the Broncos really did their damage securing 21 points off of turnovers.
 
The Vikings started the game with eight unanswered points, but the Broncos hit four consecutive three-pointers to tie the game at 12-all at the 4:23 mark.
 
The first quarter ended in a 16-all tie. 
 
Both teams battled it out in the second quarter as the Vikings entered halftime trailing FSU 28-27.
 
The game saw its last tie 30-all with 6:27 remaining in the third quarter with a made jumper from sophomore forward Sireann Pitts (Raleigh, NC). 
 
The Broncos maximized off of a low scoring quarter for the Vikings and were able to maintain the lead and never look back securing the 60-47 win in the closing quarter.
 
The Vikings will be back in action on Thursday and Friday as they travel to Boca Raton, FL to compete against Lynn University and Felician University to end 2019.
