ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Lady Vikings fell short on Thursday night 81-72 in Boca Raton, Fl against non-conference opponent Lynn University.

The Vikings drop to 4-7 overall on the season, 2-2 in the CIAA.

Devona Stell (Atlanta, GA) and sophomore guard
Asia Deal (Norfolk, VA) led the Vikings offensive efforts with 16 points each; while Stell controlled the boards for the Vikings with 10 rebounds.

Lynn University was offensively led by Taylor Jones with 18 points and Sarah Baer controlled the boards with 10 rebounds.Â

ECSU shot 42.9 percent from the field, 20 percent from behind the arc, and 75.9 percent at the line.

Lynn shot 50.9 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from behind the arc, and 75 percent at the line.Â

The Vikings outscored Lynn in the paint 36-26 points, but the game changer for Lynn University was the 43-point contribution from their bench.

The first quarter of action was an even matchup for both teams as the Vikings trailed by one possession at the end of the opening quarter.

The Vikings went on a 20-6 run to start the second quarter and claim a 39-30 lead at the 1:50 mark.Â

ECSU lead Lynn 40-35 at the half; but a dominant 27-14 third quarter performance from Lynn allowed the Knights to claim the 81-72 victory.Â
