ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Lady Vikings suffered a 58-47 loss to the Broncos of Fayetteville State University on Tuesday night.
The Vikings drop to 2-4 overall on the season.
"We fell short tonight but that doesn't mean we are not going to continue to jeep pushing and playing hard," shared sophomore guard
Asia Deal (Norfolk, VA).
Senior forward
Devona Stell (Atlanta, GA) fueled the Vikings on both ends of the floor capturing her third double-double of the season with 20 points and 18 rebounds. Deal added 11 points for the Vikings.
According to Stell, "double doubles are something I'm supposed to do, it's my last season. Everything I put up is for my team."
The Broncos were offensively and defensively lead by Katisha Hyman with 18 points and six rebounds.
The Broncos started the game with a 16-5 run, but the Vikings are no stranger to coming back from behind after getting off to a slow start early.
ECSU held the Broncos to eight points in the second quarter to close the scoring gap and make it a two-possession game trailing FSU 30-26 at the half.
The Vikings continued to fight hard in the second half of action but fell short.
FSU outscored ECSU 28-21 in the final two quarters of play to secure the 58-47 win.
The Vikings will be back in action on Saturday, December 7 in the R.L. Vaughan Center to take on the Rams of Winston Salem State University at 2 p.m. for the Breast Cancer Awareness game.
