ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Vikings suffer a 60-21 loss to the Bulldogs of Bowie State University on Saturday at Roebuck Stadium.
The Vikings honored 17 graduating seniors on the football and cheerleading teams for senior day.
ECSU celebrated Military Appreciation day with a fly over during the pre-game presentation of the game ball which was presented by Coast Guard Platoon, who ran the game ball from the Coast Guard base in Elizabeth City to Roebuck stadium, led by ECSU graduate Commander Warren Judge.
Rear Admiral Keith Smith, Commander of the Coast Guard's 5
th District performed the coin toss joined Chancellor Karrie G. Dixon, Athletic Director George Bright, and the Vikings team captains.
ECSU drops to a 2-8 overall record, 2-6 in the CIAA.
The Bulldogs improve to 10-0 on the season, 7-0 in the CIAA.
The Vikings offense rotated in quarterbacks in Sophomore Kedric Patterson (Winston-Salem, NC) and junior
Kevin Caldwell (Philadelphia, PA) Saturday. Patterson completed 5-of-10 passes for 48 yards, one touchdown, and had one interception. Caldwell completed 6-of-15 passes for 73 yards, a touchdown., and had one interception
Two-time CIAA Receiver of the Week senior
Dajuan Greene (Washington, DC) led the Vikings air attack with 62 yards on 4 receptions for a pair of touchdowns. Greene currently leads the CIAA in receiving yards.

Taeyonn Reynolds (Virginia Beach, VA) led the charge for the Vikings defense accounting for 10 tackles (7 solo).
BSU's Jarome Johnson completed 17-of-12 passes for 153 yards, while Gaston cooper completed 5-of-7 passes for 104 yds.
The Vikings rushed for 121 total yards, passed for 121 total yards, and had 13 first downs in the contest, while the bulldogs rushed for 223 yards, passed for 257 yards, and recorded 23 first downs.
The bulldogs scored touchdowns on their first three drives of the game to take an early 19-0 lead
The Vikings opened up the second quarter with a sense of urgency to get something going. Junior
Greg Williams Jr. picked off a pass from Johnson to get the Vikings offense back on the field and give ECSU some momentum.
The Vikings were able to capitalize off their defensive efforts, putting together a 7-play drive for 57 yards as Caldwell (Philadelphia, PA) connected with Mr. Reliable senior Greene (Washington, DC) for a 9-yard touchdown with 11 minutes remaining in the second quarter to give the Vikings their first points of the game trailing Bowie State 26-7.
ECSU trailed Bowie State 33-7 at halftime.
At the 11:17 mark in the 3
rd quarter, Senior
D'Quan Napper rushed for a one-yard touchdown.
Late in the fourth quarter a 22-yard return from
Zion Riddick (Ahoskie, NC) and a person foul charged to bowie State on the return gave the Vikings good field position to start their drive.
Patterson was able to find Greene and deliver a 28-yard pass for a first down at the Bulldogs 20-yard line. Next play Patterson rushes 17-yards on a quarterback keep to get the Vikings in redzone territory, Greene capped off the drive with a 3-yard touchdown reception making it a 60-21
The Vikings fought until the end but could not recover against undefeated Bowie State.
The Vikings will return to action on Friday, November against the Fighting Yellow Jacket's of Allen University at Roebuck Stadium. This is a make up game that was scheduled for non-conference play, but postponed due to inclement weather. Kick-off is slated for 1 p.m.
