Vikings Travel to Chowan

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Vikings travel to Murfreesboro, NC to take on the Hawks of Chowan University on Saturday, October 26. Kick-off is slated for 1 p.m.

The Vikings enter Saturday's contest with a 2-5 overall record, 2-3 in conference play. The Hawks hold a 1-6 overall record, 0-4 in the CIAA.

The Hawks overpowered the Vikings 44-20 when both teams met last season, but the Vikings have defeated the Hawks 7-3 over the past decade.

Elizabeth City is geared up and ready to go, coming off a 34-18 homecoming victory at home last week against Lincoln University. The Hawks last win came on September 14th against Alderson Broaddus during pre-season non-conference play, but Chowan will be expected to come out and play hard on their Homecoming day.

Sophomore quarterback Kedrick Patterson (Winston Salem, NC) was named BOXTOROW DII National Player of the Week and CIAA Quarterback of the Week for his performance in Week 7. Patterson completed 18-of-27 passes for 355 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions. Senior widereceiver Dejuan Greene (Washington, D.C.) was Patterson's main target with 10 receptions for 184 yards and three touchdowns earning him CIAA Receiver of the Week. Greene currently leads the conference with 736 total receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

Lawrence Brown (Hollywood, FL) and Juanya Majette (Hampton, VA) lead the Vikings defensive unit with 38 tackles each on the season.

The Hawks enter Saturday's contest coming off a 41-34 loss on the road at Virginia Union last week.

Chowan can be expected to run the ball a lot Saturday with the return of Deshaun Wethington who managed to still lead the team in total offense yards at 676 after missing a pair of games. Bryce Witt will also be an option for the Hawks run game with 506 rushing yards on the season.

Hawks homecoming or not, the Vikings can be expected to play a good game on Saturday coming off  some great homecoming momentum of their own.
