Vikings Conclude Three-Game Road Swing at Bowie State

10/30/2025 12:22:00 PM

BOWIE, Md. -- Elizabeth City State University hits the road for the final time this season as the Vikings face Bowie State in a CIAA showdown on Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Bowie, Md., where ECSU looks to build on last week's explosive 62–14 victory over Lincoln (Pa.) and keep its late-season momentum rolling against a Bulldogs team celebrating Homecoming and Senior Day.

ECSU Team Outlook

Elizabeth City State (2–6, 2–3 CIAA) travels to Bowie, Md., riding the momentum of a dominant 62–14 road win over Lincoln (Pa.) last weekend. The Vikings posted season highs in total offense and points in that victory, showcasing their most balanced effort of the year as they look to build a late-season surge.

Following one of the most dominant performances of the season, Elizabeth City State University earned three spots on the CIAA Football Weekly Honors list, as Anton ChavisDrewvon Oxendine, and Jamari Blake were each recognized for their standout efforts.

Under head coach Adrian Jones, ECSU has faced a challenging slate that included nationally ranked Johnson C. Smith and perennial conference power Fayetteville State. Despite the early-season setbacks, the Vikings have shown steady progress — winning two of their last four contests and improving their conference mark to .400.

Saturday's matchup at Bowie State marks the team's final road game of the regular season, with Homecoming and Senior Day on deck next week against Bluefield State. ECSU will aim to maintain its offensive rhythm and carry positive momentum into November.

ECSU's offense has started to find its rhythm, led by quarterback Christopher Perkins, who passed for five touchdowns in the Lincoln win. If the Vikings can continue to protect the football and execute on both sides of the ball, they'll look to pull even in conference play heading into the regular-season finale.

Opponent Overview – Bowie State Bulldogs

Bowie State enters Saturday's matchup with a 2–6 overall record and a 1–4 mark in CIAA play. The Bulldogs have shown flashes of potential this season but have struggled to close out tight contests, dropping four of their last five. Their lone conference win came in a 42–37 road victory at Bluefield State on October 18.

Under head coach Kyle Jackson, Bowie State has faced one of the tougher schedules in the league, including narrow defeats to Livingstone (17–16) and Virginia State (28–21). The Bulldogs' two victories have both come away from home, as they remain winless (0–3) inside Bulldog Stadium this fall. The Bulldogs have leaned on standout running back Micah Robinson, who earned CIAA weekly honors earlier this month after scoring four touchdowns in the win over Bluefield State.

This week's contest doubles as Homecoming and Senior Day in Bowie, Md., giving the Bulldogs added motivation to protect their home field. Following the matchup with Elizabeth City State, Bowie State closes the regular season on the road at Lincoln (Pa.) before the CIAA Championship weekend.

Up Next for ECSU

Following Saturday's road trip to Bowie State, the Vikings return home to close out the regular season on Saturday, November 8, hosting Bluefield State at 1 p.m. inside Roebuck Stadium. The matchup doubles as Homecoming, Senior Day, and "Rep Your Org" Day for Elizabeth City State, marking the final opportunity for fans to celebrate the 2025 team on its home field.
