Box Score ELIZABETH CITY, N.C.- A 20-point second quarter performance by the Trojans ailed the Vikings Saturday afternoon at Roebuck Stadium, as Elizabeth City State suffered a 54-21 loss.
The loss moves the Vikings to a 1-6 overall record, 1-2 in conference play. The Trojans improve to 5-1 overall, 3-0 in the CIAA.

Dajuan Greene pioneered the Vikings offense accounting for 113 yards in the air on a pair of receptions and one touchdown.
The Vikings were fueled defensively by Freshman standout
Traevon Freeman (Mathews, N.C) who recorded eight tackles total, five solo, and 3.5 tackles for a loss.
The Vikings held the Trojans to a 24-yard field goal on their opening drive, but VSU found their way into the endzone on a quarterback keep by Corderal Cook to complete their second drive of the game.
ECSU answered back putting together a six-play drive for 72 yards, capped off by a 25-yard reception in the endzone from
Kedrick Patterson (Winston Salem, NC) to
Deon Yarborough (Durham, NC) to cut the ECSU deficit to 3. At the end of the first quarter, the Trojans led the Vikings 10-7.
The Vikings struggled to contain the Trojans defensively in the second quarter. VSU's Corderal Cook put together a five-play drive that resulted in a 30-yard pass to Darius Hagans for the first of three VSU touchdowns before the half.
The Trojans lead the Vikings 30-7 going into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Vikings came out strong defensively forcing the Trojans to punt on their opening drive. On the next VSU drive, three big stops from the ECSU defense at the goal line resulted in a missed field goal attempt by the Trojans.
With 3:26 remaining in the game Patterson's pass was picked off by Kwabe Boateng of the Trojans to extend the VSU lead 37-7.
The Vikings maintained their composure and continued to fight back. In a matter of 20 seconds, Patterson put the fans at Roebuck on their feet as he connected with Green in the end zone for a 65-yard touchdown untouched.
Trailing 40-14 at the end of the third quarter, the Vikings did not let up. The Trojans scored 14 points in the fourth quarter off back to back touchdowns from Donovan Goode.
The Vikings answered back on a 1 yd touchdown run by
Deshon Saunders with 8:01 left to play, set up by a 48-yard reception from
Dajuan Greene that put the Vikings in great field position.
The Vikings will be back in action on Saturday, October 19, 2019, to host the Lions of Lincoln University for Homecoming. Kick-off is slated for 1:30 p.m. at Roebuck Stadium.
