LINCOLN, Pa. – The Elizabeth City State University volleyball team captured its first victory on the season defeating Lincoln University (PA) on the road today, 3-0 (20-25; 19-25; 9-25). This is the Lady Vikings first win since September 25, 2017, when they knocked off Bowie State University at home in the R. L. Vaughan Center last season.
With the victory, ECSU improve to 1-14 on the season and 1-8 in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association; while the Lady Lions fall to 1-9 overall and 1-7 on conference action. As a team, Elizabeth City State held a .304 total attack percentage; while holding Lincoln to a .026 attack percentage. ECSU tallied nine kills in the first set, 12 kills in the second, and eight kills in the third with 69 total attacks.
The Lady Vikings controlled the game in point differential (39.0 to 25.0), kills (29 to 21), aces (8 to 2), assists (27 to 20), and digs (30 to 27). Sophomore captain
Jahera Dangerfield led the game in kills (12); while adding two assists and a block. Freshman
Kaylee Williams recorded a game/career-high five serve aces; while fellow freshman
Asia Jones tallied a game/career-high 21 assists. Â

Alexis Blackwell led the game defensively with eight digs. During the first set, Elizabeth City State and Lincoln traded points throughout the set until the Lady Lions tied the contest with an attack error by
Kaylee Williams at 19-all. The Lady Vikings jumped out in front by two (22-20) and did not look back.
The second set seemed to be going the same, until ECSU begin seeing the end of the tunnel. Elizabeth City State stepped on the gas and thrashed LU in the second set, 19-25 and in the third; the Lady Lions witnessed the same treatment as the Lady Vikings toppled Lincoln (PA), 9-25.
