GREENEVILLE, TN- The Tusculum College Pioneers moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 54-41 win over Elizabeth City State University Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Field.
The Vikings fell behind by as much as 41-14 with 4:26 left in the third quarter but made a game of it down the stretch scoring 4 touchdowns over the final 19 minutes.
Casey Turner had passing touchdowns to Lovie Banks-Rose, Jr Javoris Bryant and Anthony Mundle in the second half while a long kickoff return by Banks-Rose set up a Petey Boone 4-yard rushing score with 1:52 to go in the 3rd quarter.
Turner then found Bryant and Mundle on 20-yard touchdown strikes to pull ECSU within seven, 48-41, with 8:16 left in the game.
The Pioneers then orchestrated an 11 play-75 yard drive capped by a 1-yard TD run by Bo Cordell to halt the Vikings rally. ECSU went 3 and out on their next drive and the Pioneers gained a first down and took a knee to seal the win.

He entered Saturday's contest needing 11 passes to break the record (Steven Gachette, Southwest Baptist). He also set a Tusculum College and South Atlantic Conference record for passing yards in a game with 596 yards on 31-42 attempts.
Tusculum also set a school record for total yards in a game with 782 and was 5-5 in red zone chances.
In the first half the Pioneers rolled up 426 yards of offense on 48 plays for a 27-14 halftime lead.
Casey Turner finished the day with five passing touchdowns and 297 yards for ECSU.
