Howard Williams, Jr., a senior defensive back, has been named CIAA Defensive Back of the Week. In the 4th quarter of Saturday's 11-0 shutout of Bowie State University, Williams intercepted 3 passes for a total of 58 yards. He also had 4 tackles (1 solo, 3 assisted) and a pass break-up. This is the second such recognition that Williams has received this season. A native of Elizabeth City, NC, he currently leads both NCAA Division II and the CIAA in interceptions with 9. He is also tied for first in the nation in passes defended with 18.

For leading the Vikings to their second consecutive win, Coach Waverly Tillar has been recognized as CIAA Coach of the Week. ECSU is tied for 3rd place in the CIAA Eastern Division and will face the division leading Bears of Shaw University Saturday, October 16th at Roebuck Stadium. Kickoff time is slated for 1:30pm.
