Elizabeth City State University Athletics

Sylvia Carver is a native of Elizabeth City, NC. She graduated from North Carolina State University summa cum laude (2008) and received her master's degree from Elizabeth City State University summa cum laude (2013). She began her appointment as head cheer coach in August 2017.  

 

Sylvia has a lot of experience in the cheer world both as a cheerleader and a coach. She was captain of her cheer team in high school and a member of the dance team in undergrad. Following her college graduation she cheered for Carolina Rampage, a semi-pro team. She was a high school cheer coach for several years and responsible for choreographing routines, teaching stunts, as well as growing the athletes academically. She is certified in cheer safety and stunts through the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors (AACCA).
