David Brooks

Coach Brooks is entering his 3rd year and 2nd season as Head Coach of the Vikings. In just his
first season he orchestrated a historic turnaround, taking over a team that was 9-17 prior to his
arrival (and 25-119 in the 6 years before his arrival) and led them to a 27-6 record, the highest
winning percentage in school history (.818).

In 2021, Brooks helped the Lady Vikings to a record 17 CIAA Players of the Week, including
Claire Kellum being named CIAA Setter of the Week 5 times and Jada Rouse being named
CIAA Rookie of the Week 5 times.

Brooks coached Outside Hitter Jada Rouse to a breakout rookie season, recording 311 kills, 323
digs, and a conference leading 54 aces. For her efforts Rouse was named CIAA Rookie of the
Year, 1st Team All CIAA, and CIAA All Rookie Team. Joining Rouse with post-season honors
were Claire Kellum (1st Team All CIAA), Aasia McNeil (2nd Team All CIAA and CIAA All
Tournament Team), and Mariah Griffin (2nd Team All CIAA team and CIAA All Rookie Team)
In 2020, the CIAA canceled all contests due to the Covid Pandemic. The Lady Vikings still won
in the classroom however, earning the AVCA Team Academic Award for the first time in school
history, finishing with a team GPA of 3.34

Prior to taking over the Elizabeth City State University Volleyball Program, Brooks was an
assistant coach for two seasons at Catawba College. During his tenure at Catawba he stepped in
as the Interim Volleyball Head Coach from January 2019- March 2019.

Coach Brooks spent a decade coaching high school volleyball from 2008 to 2018; highlighted by

voted the MECKA 4A Coach of the Year, and still holds the All-Time and Single-Season records
for wins. Prior to Mallard Creek, Brooks coached at Phillip O Berry Academy of Technology
and Scotland High School.

Brooks also holds 8 years of coaching experience at the club level, with stops as Head Coach at
Carolina Juniors Volleyball Club, Lake Norman Volleyball Club, and Beach Elite Volleyball
