Coach Tyreek “Coach Reek” Dupree is entering his second season at Elizabeth City State University as Assistant Coach with the Viking Men’s Basketball team. 
 
A native of Farmville, North Carolina, Dupree graduated from Farmville Central high school in 2016. He was a standout guard on a 28-0 state championship basketball team. In addition, Dupree served as the team captain.
During his high-school career he was the leading scorer of the NC Blazers AAU program under Coach Berry Ford. 
 
After his high school career, Dupree committed to play at Lees Mcrae College in Banner Elk, NC but his playing career came to an abrupt end due to a heart condition. 
 
Coach Dupree comes to Elizabeth City State University after serving as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Pitt Community College in Winterville, North Carolina. 
 
Dupree played a major role in helping lead PCC to a historic season, where they won their first Region X conference championship in school history and made a run at the Division II JUCO nationals this past season (2018-2019).
 
Coach Dupree began his coaching career as an assistant coach and trainer of the Warriors life elite AAU program based out of Greenville, NC in 2017.
 
The following year, he started his own AAU program by the name of Team ENC (Eastern North Carolina), committing and competing nationally on the adidas gauntlet.
 
Coach Dupree owns his own training business by the name of “ W.G.M. I Skill Development “ training. For years Dupree has had deep roots within his community on and off the court. He is considered a “neighborhood hero”. 
 
He has made a major impact on many of the youth’s lives across Eastern NC hosting exposure events, community basketball games and providing hope for the youth in his area. 
 
Coach Dupree’s motto is “Process over Product “. He believes in developing student athletes on and off the floor by teaching them to be obsessed with working hard, without being obsessed with the reward of it.
 
Dupree is currently pursuing his degree in Kinesiology with dreams of attending PT school in the near future.
