Coach Lou Grimsley is now in his sixth season as a part of the Elizabeth City State University basketball program. Coach Grimsley came on board in 2012 to assist coach Shawn Walker and provided stability for the program in the years following Walker's departure.
Coach Grimsley led the program on an interim basis following Coach Alico Dunk's departure and has continued to be a part of the Viking program since that time. Coach Grimsley has an extensive background in basketball having over 25 years of experience as a head coach at the high school level. Having coached at Malcolm X. Shabazz High School in New Jersey for all 25 years he led the Bulldogs to five Group Three State Championships in his years at the helm of the program.
Grimsley is a graduate of Marymount College in Salina, Kansas with a degree in Physical Education. Grimsley lives in Elizabeth City.
