Stephen Hospital, better known as Coach Doc, is entering his first season with the football program at Elizabeth City State University as run game coordinator and offensive Line coach. Coach Hospital brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from all levels of football.
This past fall season Coach Hospital was the offensive coordinator at Atlantic Coast High School in Jacksonville, FL. Coach Hospital helped the team improve by 4 wins in 2023. Coach Hospital featured a rushing attack that averaged 4 yards per carry during his time as offensive coordinator.
Prior to Atlantic Coast, Coach Hospital was the run game coordinator and offensive line coach for Webber International University for the 2022 season. In 2022, Webber carried out a rushing attack that averaged 4.4 yards per carry and 173 yards rushing per game. Coach Hospital also coached an offensive line unit that gave up only 12 sacks on the season, placing them in the top 30 for NAIA nationally in that category. Webber's offense in 2022 finished 15th in the nation for NAIA in 3rd down conversions and finished 3rd in the nation in red zone scoring percentage for the season in NAIA at 92%. Webber finished 6-4 and 3rd in the Sun Conference.
For the 2021 season, Coach Hospital began his collegiate coaching career serving as the tight ends coach and offensive graduate assistant for Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. During his time at Southeastern, Coach Hospital mentored all conference tight end Iyan Hinkle. At SEU, the tight ends finished the year with the 2nd highest group GPA on the team at 3.37. Coach Hospital also assisted on special teams and oversaw gameday personnel substitutions and changes for the offense. SEU finished the season 7-3 and Sun Conference champions. Coach Hospital graduated from Southeastern with a Masters in Kinesiology.
Before Southeastern, Coach Hospital spent 5 years at Christ Church Academy in Jacksonville, FL. At CCA, Coach Hospital held numerous titles and positions, including run game coordinator, head offensive line coach, offense quality control, and recruiting liaison. Coach Hospital credits a lot of his success to his mentor, Jim Stomps, who was the head coach at CCA during his time there. At CCA, they saw tons of success together. In 2016 CCA made the Final Four of the SSAC Florida State playoffs, and in 2019, made it to the Elite Eight. In 2019, CCA saw its best offensive performance in school history, finishing the season with 3,668 yards of total offense.
Coach Hospital has gained useful coaching experience in other places as well. In 2017 Coach Hospital interned with the Jacksonville Sharks of the National Arena League as an offensive assistant and helped in day-to-day football operations. The Sharks went on to become the 2017 NAL National Champions that season. In 2017 Coach Hospital also coached and called the run game in the North Florida Football Coaches Association All Star game. In 2018 Coach Hospital interned with the football program at Jacksonville University assisting with linebackers. In winter of 2020 Coach Hospital was selected to coach in the Gatlinburg All-American Bowl and was the run game coordinator and offensive line coach.
Stephen Hospital is a Jacksonville, FL native and graduated from Mandarin High School. There he was a 3-year letterman. After high school Coach Hospital went on to play at Stetson University until a knee injury sidelined his playing career. Coach Hospital finished school at the University of North Florida with a B.S. in Sport Management. Coach Hospital also had his own business training junior high, high school, and collegiate offensive lineman in the greater Jacksonville area for 6 years
through Docs OL Academy (DOA). During that span Coach Hospital sent over 22 offensive line athletes to college across all levels.
