Before heading to JF Webb HS, Sessoms started his coaching career at his alma mater Southern Durham HS for his first stint serving as the Wide Receivers coach for five seasons. During that time, Southern Durham receivers racked up over 1600 yards and 15 touchdowns per season.
Sessoms would also be selected as a coach for the Carolina Bowl All-Star game in 2020, 2022, and 2023.
