CHARLOTTE, NC - After a successful start to the 2026 season, the Elizabeth City State Vikings volleyball team earned three weekly honors from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). Vikings freshman Valeria Miranda was named CIAA Rookie of the Week, junior middle blocker Christian Bouie was named the CIAA Defensive Player of the Week, and junior outside hitter Kendall Washington was named the CIAA Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Washington was named the CIAA Offensive Player of the Week after a terrific effort this weekend. For the week, she totaled 46 kills in four matches over the weekend. Her best effort came at Barton when she led the team to a five-set in both teams' season opener. She also recorded 16 kills against Barton to close out the two-day tournament. She also finished the week with seven service aces, recording three aces at Barton and three more against Newberry. Washington had a terrific overall week with double digit digs in a pair of matches as well. She had 16 against Barton to complete a double-double and she also added 11 digs against Newberry.
 
Fellow junior Christian Bouie was equally impressive this weekend, earning CIAA Defensive Player of the Week honors. She put on several dominant efforts to lead the team with 19 total blocks (14 solo). The effort included eight blocks (seven solo) at Barton. She also had six total blocks (four solo) against Newberry.
 
Elizabeth City State freshman Valeria Miranda got her collegiate career started in style. She was named the CIAA Freshman of the week after a great weekend. She led the team with 84 total digs in four matches. She began her career with 28 digs against Barton. She also added 24 digs against Newberry. 
 
The Vikings will be back in action this weekend when the team opens home court with the Viking Classic. The team will take the court at 10:30 a.m., Friday against the Kutztown Bears. The team will return to the court, Friday evening to take on the Chowan Hawks in a 6:30 p.m. match.
