ECSU Volleyball Competes at IUP Crimson Hawks Classic

INDIANA, Pa. -- Elizabeth City State dropped four matches over the course of two days at the Crimson Hawks Classic in Indiana, Pa

The Vikings opened Friday morning against Shepherd, battling in a tight first and third set before falling 3-0 (25-22, 25-11, 25-23). Kendall Washington led with nine kills, while Jalayah Hamby added five blocks. Later that afternoon, ECSU picked up its first set win of the season but came up short against Chestnut Hill, 3-1 (15-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-13). Washington and Jorja Hoffman each posted 10 kills, and Serenity Lunnermon tallied 24 assists.

On Saturday, ECSU faced host Indiana (Pa.) and was defeated 3-0 (25-9, 25-20, 25-9). Hoffman finished with six kills and Clarke Blakemore added four. The Vikings closed play against Pitt.-Johnstown, again falling 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-13). Washington reached double figures with 10 kills and a team-high 15 digs, while Blakemore chipped in eight kills.

ECSU will return home looking for its first victory as the Vikings prepare to open CIAA play. Up next, the Vikings travel to Virginia Union on Thursday, September 25, before returning to Roebuck Stadium on Monday, September 29, to host Bowie State.
