ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings swept Bluefield State in CIAA action on Friday afternoon at home using the long ball and small ball approach.

The sweep marks the first CIAA sweep since April 2, 2023.
Emma Fleming went 4-4 in the opener with three runs scored and a double. Fleming would add two more hits in the nightcap to lead the team with six hits. Courtney Ward collected four hits including a grand slam with two runs scored and four RBI.
Karrigan Belangia added four hits including a home run to go with four RBI. Karma Fields added three hits with two walks.
Reagan Seelye picked up the win in the circle, while Shaina Lugo picked up the save in relief.
In game one, the Lady Vikings jumped out to an early 6-0 lead with a six-run second inning. Bluefield State rallied in the top of the fifth to cut the deficit to 6-5 before a double play at the plate ended the rally.
ECSU countered with a five-run frame in the bottom of the inning with a Courtney Ward grand slam to propel the Lady Vikings to a 13-5 run-rule victory.
The Lady Vikings did all of their damage in the fourth inning of the night cap as ECSU used four Big Blue miscues that led to seven unearned runs.
Bluefield State rallied in the top of the seventh with a pair of runs to cut the deficit to 7-2.
Camdyn Peck picked up the win in the circle in the nightcap tossing a complete game scattering four hits.

The Lady Vikings look to continue their momentum as ECSU heads to Richmond, Va. to take on Virginia Union in CIAA action on Saturday, April 5. First pitch is slated for 1pm.
