Elizabeth City, NC -- Elizabeth City State University Women's Basketball (7-7, 4-2 CIAA) delivered a commanding performance in their final game of a 3-game home stretch, defeating Johnson C. Smith 68-48 at the R.L. Vaughan Center. The win moves the Vikings to an even .500 overall while solidifying their strong conference play record.
The Vikings were led by a balanced offensive effort. Vannessa Schwarzmann stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Londen Coleman added 10 points and 4 rebounds, while Tiana Amos led all scorers with 13 points.
ECSU dominated the glass, winning the rebounding battle 40-33, with Rashauna Grant leading the effort with a game-high 9 rebounds. Their bench also made a significant impact, contributing 36 points, highlighted by Isa Banks' 8-point performance.
The Vikings shot an efficient 45.6% from the field while showcasing excellent ball movement, tallying 17 team assists. Their defensive effort held Johnson C. Smith in check, allowing the Vikings to maintain control throughout the game.
