BOWIE, MD | The ECSU volleyball team (2-9, 1-0) travels to Bowie, Maryland to face the Bowie State Bulldogs on September 30th to resume Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The game will be held at the A.C. Jordan Arena.

ECSU enters Monday's match with a (2-9, 1-0 CIAA) record after defeating Virginia Union University 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 27-25) on Thursday (9/26). Angel Bowden led the team with 11 digs, 14 assists, and three aces, while Janeal Homer recorded 10 kills and four blocks in the win this past Thursday. The Vikings' leader through 11 matches is Jada Rouse, who has 76 kills and 16 aces, while Bowden is the team's leading passer, who has 127 assists. Naijya Leggett owns 176 digs and Andrea Rose has 33 blocks.

The Series

Monday's match-up will be just the 32nd time the two programs will meet since 2008, as the Vikings own a 28-4 record against Bowie State. The Bulldogs look to snap a seven-game losing skid against ECSU. The Vikings haven't lost to BSU since 2019 inside A.C. Jordan Arena, 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 26-24)

A Look at the Bulldogs

Despite the loss, the Bulldogs snapped a 12-set sweep with winning the third set against the Trojans. Bowie State is ranked fifth in the CIAA in blocks, averaging 1.94 throughout 12 matches on the season. Nina Edwards leads the charge for the Bulldogs 28 blocks and 63 kills, while Taylor is second in blocks (23) and third in kills (44).
