The Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) volleyball team swept Virginia Union University in straight sets (25-8, 26-24, 25-15) in a commanding performance to close out the regular season. The victory solidifies ECSU's spot in the CIAA Quarterfinals with an 11-17 overall record and 10-6 in conference play.

Kendall Washington led the way with a stellar all-around game, finishing with 14 kills, 14 digs, and four blocks. She was supported offensively by Jada Rouse and Janeal Homer, who each contributed six kills.

Defensively, Kayleigh Sullivan matched Washington with 14 digs and also led the team in assists with 12, while Serenity Lunnermon added eight assists. Rouse bolstered the defensive effort with 12 digs of her own, showcasing the Vikings' teamwork on both ends of the court.

ECSU came out strong in the first set, dominating 25-8. The second set was a tighter contest, with ECSU pulling through in the clutch for a 26-24 win. The Vikings sealed the match with a 25-15 victory in the third set, demonstrating poise and precision.

The Vikings now turn their focus to the CIAA Quarterfinals, where they will face Fayetteville State on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at Fayetteville State.
