Elizabeth City, NC - The Elizabeth City State women's volleyball team will commence its quest to replicate a championship season in the 2023 campaign on Friday, Sept. 1, and Saturday, Sept. 2 in the Fairmont State Classic held at the Feaster Center in Fairmont, West Virginia. The Vikings will take on Anderson University and Slippery Rock on Friday at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., followed by a match with Fairmont State and Ursuline on Saturday at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Preseason Rankings
The Vikings were voted second out of 13 teams in the 2023 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Conference Preseason Poll announced Monday afternoon by the conference office. 

New Leadership
Friday's match will be the first season for head coach Jeannette Downer who joined the Vikings in August of 2023. The Vikings roster consists of 15 championship returners, six of whom were named to the ALL-CIAA Preseason Team in Elizabeth Kellum, Kayleigh Sullivan, Jada Rouse, Naijya Leggett, Clarke Blakemore, and Victoria White, while adding 4 newcomers. Downer is no stranger to CIAA Women's volleyball as she brings championship pedigree to Viking land.
