The Elizabeth City State Men's Basketball team (4-7, 1-0 in CIAA) secured their conference opener against the Broncos of Fayetteville State (5-6, 1-1) 65-59, at the R.L. Vaughan Center on Thursday evening.
Eric Butler led the Vikings with 15 points, 7 rebounds, and would add 3 steals. Butler would have a pivotal impact on erasing a 19 point deficit in the first half. The Vikings would take their first lead of the game with 14:19 left in the second half.
DeAndre Wilkins would provide a solid performance scoring 7 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Jaquantae Harris would score 9 points for the Vikings and lead all Vikings in blocks with two.
Michael Eads Jr., would pour in 10 points, 3 assists and 4 rebounds. The Vikings would outscore the Broncos in fast break points 10-5.
The Vikings will return to action on Monday, December 18, to face off with Saint Augustine's University. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
