Women's Hoops drop opening two in West Chester

WEST CHESTER, PA- In the 36th Carol Eckman Memorial Classic Sponsored by Hampton Inn Downingtown/Exton. The Elizabeth City State women's basketball team would travel to West Chester, Pennsylvania to compete in the two-day classic. The Vikings would face West Chester and finish with the Bloomsburg Huskies.

Day I - The 2023-24 season starts with some familiar and some new faces. The Elizabeth City State women's basketball team suffered their first road game loss to the Lady Golden Rams of West Chester 69-77 on Saturday evening. The Vikings would drop the season opener and be 0-1 to start the regular season.  The Vikings would be led by Guard Alanis Hill who would drop 20 points and add 5 rebounds and one block. The Vikings would return to action the following day to face off against the Bloomsburg Huskies at Hollinger Field House.

Day II -The Elizabeth City State women's basketball team suffered their second road game loss in a marginal point-for-point contest to the Lady Huskies of Bloomsburg 72-80 on Sunday afternoon. The Vikings dropped to 0-2 in the regular season. Maryam Hashim would lead the Vikings in points with 20 and lead the team in rebounds with six. Isa Banks led the Vikings in assists with five against the Lady Huskies.


The Vikings will return to the hardwood to face off against Clark Atlanta and Albany State this upcoming weekend in the annual CIAA/SIAC challenge hosted by Clark Atlanta, in Atlanta, GA.
