Softball Doubles Up on Lincoln

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Elizabeth City State University softball team picked up a pair of wins over Lincoln Saturday afternoon in CIAA action 5-1 and 7-4.
 
ECSU kicked off the day with a 5-1 victory and was led by freshman Karrigan Belangia and sophomore Joanna Duhudaway with a pair of RBI's. Sophomore Sikia Korneagy added the other RBI for the Lady Vikings.
 
Senior Cheyanne Brasseur, junior Claire Kellum, and Korneagy posted a pair of hits. In the circle for ECSU, senior Casie Wright gave up six hits, struck out four and one earned run over seven innings pitched.
 
In the second game, ECSU had to come from behind twice before taking rh lead for good in the sixth. Trailing 1-0 at the end of the first, Korneagy knocked in a pair of her teammates with a double to right field in the top of the second scoring junior Kennedi Williams and Duhudaway.
 
Lincoln took the lead again in bottom half of the third inning, 3-2, before ECSU had runners cross the plate in the next three innings to take the 7-3 lead. Lincoln plated a running in the bottom of the sixth to cur the Lady Vikings lead to three, 7-4.
 
Belangia went all seven innings in the circle striking out three.
 
Brasseur and Wright recorded a pair of hits while six other ECSU hitters that came to the plate successfully reached base. Belangia, Brasseur, Korneagy, junior Isabel Mugaas, and Wright record one RBI each.
 
The wins move ECSU to 11-14 and 9-4 in CIAA action. They are back to action on Sunday, April 24, when they take on Bowie State at 1 and 3.
