Elizabeth City, NC -. The Vikings drop match to Shaw Bears 1-3 (29-27, 25-18, 25-23, 25-23). The Vikings are now 25-5 (12-3 CIAA), while the Bears improve to 15-5 (14-1 CIAA).
Junior Aasia McNeil (Statesville, NC) paced ECSU with 11 kills, 11 digs and 4 assists. Freshman
Ashanti Williams (Fort Wayne, IN) contributed seven kills, and 12 assists while freshman
Jada Rouse (Rock Hill, SC) joined the leader board with seven kills, two aces and a lone assist for the match. Junior
Elizabeth Kellum (Jacksonville, NC) had 20 assists to round out the team, and assisted with 21 digs, four aces, and 3 blocks.
The opening set was filled with intensity as both teams traded points. Shaw was able to get a slight lead over ECSU at 19-14 but a handful of errors from the Bears brought the Vikings back in the set at 22-all. The set came down to the wire, but it was the unanswered points from the Vikings that gave RCSU the push to take the set 29-27.
Shaw responded to dropping the first set with fire. Though the set started off in a limbo, the Bears found their rhythm, taking the set 25-18. More of the same followed in the next two sets. Shaw found a way to fight through the electric home crowd and energetic student section to take the third set 25-23 and the fourth set 25-23 to win the match.

The Vikings host Virginia Union University for its conference finale on Monday, November, 8th. First serve is set for 6 pm at the R.L Vaughan Center.
