Vikings Sweep WSSU, Claflin, and JCSU Going Undefeated at CIAA Round Up

Elizabeth City, NC – The Vikings start the second half of the season going undefeated at the CIAA Round-Up at Virginia State with 3-0 sweeps against WSSU, Claflin, and JCSU. 
 
Game 1
The Vikings started their roundup weekend with high energy, sweeping the Rams of Winston-Salem State University in three sets ( 25-21, 25-13, 25-16). The Vikings dominated the Rams offensively, totaling 37 kills to the Rams 19. From behind the service line, ECSU also put up great numbers totaling 14 aces. 
 
Junior Aasia McNeil (Statesville, NC) led the match with 12 kills, followed by freshman Jada Rouse (Rock Hill, SC) with eight kills. Junior Elizabeth Kellum (Jacksonville, NC) added five kills. Freshman libero Naijya Leggett (Atlanta, GA) led the defense with 12 digs, and Kellum recorded 23 assists.
 
Game 2
The Vikings met Claflin University (9-7, 6-3) in Game two, defeating the Panthers in three sets (25-18, 25-19, 25-18). Freshman Jada Rouse (Rock Hill, SC) had another huge game with 12 kills and 15 digs. Junior Aasia McNeil (Statesville, NC) followed up with ten kills. Junior Elizabeth Kellum (Jacksonville, NC) ended the match with a total of 26 assists, and freshman libero Naijya Leggett (Atlanta, GA) led the defense with 16 digs. 
 
Game 3
To finish the weekend roundup, the Vikings took care of Johnson C. Smith University Golden Bulls in three sets (25-15, 25-21, 25-22). Freshman Jada Rouse (Rock Hill, SC) led the team offensively and defensively with 16 kills and four aces. Junior Aasia McNeil (Statesville, NC) contributed nine kills to the match. Elizabeth Kellum (Jacksonville, NC) and senior Asia Jones (Rocky Mount, NC) both added 16 assists in the win.
 
Next Up
The Vikings will travel to Virginia Beach, Virginia, for a non-conference match against Regent University on Tuesday, October 18th, at 6 pm.
