Vikings Struggle at St. Andrews Dropping Double header 0-2

LAURINBURG, N.C. - The Vikings faced off with Saint Andrews University in Laurinburg, N.C. The Vikings showcased poise and persistence in a tough 0-2 road loss on Sunday.

SCORES:
Game 1: ECSU 0, Saint Andrews University 6
Game 2: ECSU 1, Saint Andrews University 7

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
  • Both teams remained scoreless at the end of the first inning.
  • SAU scored a home run in the second inning.
  • The Vikings struck out in the top of the third. 
  • Knights answered with two runs and two errors, at the bottom of the third. 
  • ECSU acquired an error, causing the knights to score
  • SAU got a single up center field, giving SAU a 3-0 lead headed into the fourth. 
  • Vikings got two hits in the top of the fourth 
  • The Knights added two more runs on the board on three hits in the bottom of the fifth.
Game 2:
  • Vikings recorded their first run of the game in the first inning.
  • SAU answered back with five runs in the first inning. 
  • The Knights held the lead 6-0 in the bottom of the second.
  • ECSU added four hits but remained scoreless.
 
NEXT UP: The Vikings will be back in action February 29-March 1st, in Murfreesboro, NC to take on Frostburg State and former CIAA opponent the Hawks of Chowan University.
