ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Justin Faison's 30-point performance led the Vikings to an 82-74 overtime victory against the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University on Saturday.
The Vikings improve to 12-10 overall on the season, 4-6 in the CIAA.
The Golden Bulls drop to 13-7 on the season, 7-4 in the CIAA.
Junior guard Justin Faison (Waldorf, MD) led the way for the Vikings recording 30-points, Junior forward Shykeef Daniels (Greenville, NC) followed up with 14 points. The trio of Destin Dunton (Panama City, FL), Gabe Kirkendoll (Jacksonville, NC), and Joseph Allen (Miami Gardens, FL) rounded out the double-digit scoring for the Vikings with 10 points each.
Allen and Daniels led the Vikings rebounding efforts with twelve boards each.
The Golden Bulls were offensively led by Aaron Adair with 13 points and defensively led by Ben Cox with eight rebounds.
ECSU shot 47.5 percent from the field, 57.9 percent from behind the arc, and 54.2 percent at the line.
JCSU shot 43.9 percent from the field, 43.8 percent from behind the arc, and 77.3 percent at the line.
ECSU's ability to score 20 points off of JCSU turnovers provided a major boost for Shawn Walker's group down the stretch to secure the win in overtime.
The Vikings will be back in action on Wednesday night at Bowie State University to take on the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m.
