ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Vikings saw their best shooting night of the season clinching a 69-48 win over Claflin in Orangeburg, SC.
The Vikings improved to 7-9 in conference, 11-17 overall.
Sophomore guard Asia Deal (Norfolk, VA) recorded a season high in field goals made leading the Vikings with 21 points.
The Panthers were led by Breanna Price with 18 points.
The Vikings turned the ball over quite a bit, but ECSU completely controlled the game inside the paint outscoring the Panthers 36-12.
A major key for the Vikings in the last two wins has been their ability to get their bench involved in the scoring; the ECSU bench contributed 33 points to Claflin's 3.
Claflin led the Vikings deep in the first stanza up 17-6 with 2:08 left to play but an 11-0 run by the Vikings knotted the score at 17-all with 33 secs until the second quarter.
ECSU outscored Claflin 18-6 in the second quarter; highlighted by back to back three pointers from Deal and sophomore guard Azhante Rodgers (Portsmouth, VA).
The Vikings held the Panthers five points in the third stanza and maintained their offensive attack to close the game out coming away with the 69-48 victory.
ECSU shot 60.4 percent from the field, 62.5 percent from behind the arc, and 60 percent at the line.
Claflin shot 21.3 percent from the field, 10 percent from behind the arc, and 71.4percent at the line.

The Vikings will travel to Charlotte, NC to compete in the CIAA Basketball Tournament. The first round will Tip-Off on Tuesday, February 25. The official brackets will be released tomorrow.
