ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Vikings take a tough 56-51 loss at Livingstone College tonight.
The Vikings drop to 8-13 overall on the season, 4-5 in the CIAA
Senior forward
Devona Stell (Atlanta, GA) continues to pioneer the Vikings on both ends of the floor capturing her 11th double-double of the season with 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Sophomore forward
Sireann Pitts (Raleigh, NC) followed up just one rebound shy of a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds tonight.
The Blue Bears were led in scoring by Daisa Harris with 17 points
ECSU shot 40.7 percent from the field, 18.2 percent from behind the arc, and 45.5 percent at the line.
LC shot 38.6 percent from the field, 26.9 percent from behind the arc, and 62.5 percent at the line.
The Vikings controlled the first quarter outscoring the Blue Bears 12-6, putting together a very impressive defensive effort that disrupted the LC's offense.
The Blue Bears came out early in the second half with a small run to chip away at the Viking's lead before taking a 17-16 edge over ECSU at the 6:60 mark.
Both teams exchanged the lead around the midway mark of the second stanza, but a 6-0 run late in the quarter sent the Vikings into the half trailing LC 24-19.
LC outscored ECSU 16-11 in the third quarter, but the Vikings refused to bow down as a jumper from Pitts late in the game made it a 51-all game.
ECSU came back to show up the Blue Bears 21-16 in the final quarter, but it would not be enough to pull off the win.
The Vikings will be back in action on Saturday in Charlotte, NC at Johnson C. Smith University. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
