ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. -- Coming off a season opening loss at the hands of UNC Pembroke, the Elizabeth City State University volleyball team will face off in four non-conference matches this upcoming week.
Tuesday, September 17 at Barton - 7:00 p.m.
The Vikings will start off the week traveling to Wilson, N.C. to face off against the Barton College Bulldogs.
- Barton, a member of Conference Carolinas, sits at 1-3 on the 2019 campaign.
- The Bulldogs lost 3-1 at Queens, 3-2 vs. Francis Marion and 3-0 to Auburn Montgomery and defeated Shorter 3-2.
- This marks the first matchup between these two teams, separated by only 122 miles, since 2012 when Barton picked up a 3-0 win.
- Since 2008, Barton holds a has won five out of the last eight contests.
Thursday, September 19 vs. Regent - 6:00 p.m. (Home Opener)
ECSU will return home to face off against the Regent University Royals inside of the R.L. Vaughan Center for their 2019 Home Opener.
- Regent has a relatively new program as the Royals are competing in only their third season.
- This contest will mark the first between these two teams.
- Regent is a member of the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association)
Saturday, September 21 at Lees-McRae - 7:00 p.m.
The Vikings will hit the road again as they make a swing out to the western part of North Carolina as they face off against Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C.
- Lees-McRae, a member of Conference Carolinas, sits at 0-8 on the 2019 season.
- The Bobcats went 0-4 in a tournament at Alabama-Huntsville and 0-4 in a tournament at Flagler
- Represents the first meeting between these two schools.
Sunday, September 22 at King - 2:00 p.m.
The mountain road swing continues as the Vikings will venture into Tennessee to face off against the King University Tornadoes in Bristol for a Sunday afternoon matinee.
- Previously faced off against King in 2018. King took a 3-0 decision.
- 2-4 on the 2019 season
- 1-2 at the Lincoln Memorial Tournament and 1-2 at a tournament hosted by Augusta University.
- King will play in their first two Conference Carolinas matches on Friday at Belmont Abbey and Saturday at the University of Mount Olive before hosting ECSU.
