ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Vikings fell short to Fayetteville State University 53-51 on the road Monday night.

The Vikings drop to 7-5 overall on the season, 1-2 in the CIAA.

Junior guards
Zaccheus Hobbs (Maysville, NC) and
Justin Faison (Waldorf, Md) led the Vikings in scoring with 12 points each.Â

Senior forward
Tyjhai Byers (Bethesda, Md) captured a triple-double on the night tallying 11 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 blocks. Byers is currently the division II active leader in career blocked shot average, the 6-11 senior ranks fourth nationally this season at a CIAA-best 3.1 blocks per game.Â
The Broncos were offensively led by Will Brown with 14 points and defensively led by Jalen Seegars with 10 rebounds.
ECSUÂ shot 33.3 percent from the field, 29.2 percent from behind the arc, and 72.7 percent at the line.

Fayetteville State shot 30.4 percent from the field, 25 percent from behind the arc, and 83.3 percent at the line.Â

The Vikings will be back in action in the new year to take on the Lions of Lincoln University on January 7, 2020 in the R.L. Vaughan Center. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
