The Vikings improve to 6-14 overall, 5-8 in the CIAA. The Bulldogs drop to 5-16 overall, 3-10 in the CIAA.
Alexus Elliott (Dudley, NC) led the Vikings in kills with six.
Jahera Dangerfield (Jacksonville, NC) contributed five kills, five assist, and two blocks. While
Asia Jones (Rocky Mount, NC) led the Vikings in assist with nine.
Caitland Okorafor led the Bulldogs with five kills and Bianca Tucker recorded 11 assist in the contest for Bowie.
The Vikings got off to an 8-1 run in the first set and never looked back. Bowie State charged a timeout to regroup and were able to score three consecutive points out of the timeout. The Vikings quickly put a stop to the BSU run with back to back kills coming from
D'Kota Hinton-Louis (Las Vegas, Nevada) and Dangerfield before closing out the set with a 7-1 run.
ECSU showed a lot of energy and consistency in the match, starting the second and third set with similar runs. In set two the Vikings were able to build on an early 6-1 run, but Bowie State battled their way back into the game to come within two trailing the Vikings 12-10. The Vikings dominated the Bulldogs to close out the remainder of the set.
Momentum carried over into the final set for the Vikings as they jumped out to a 7-1 lead over the Bulldogs and ended the set on a 8-3 run.
The Vikings will be back in action tomorrow night as they host the Trojans of Virginia State University at 6 p.m. in the R.L. Vaughan Center.
