How It Happened

Set One: The Vikings controlled the tempo in the opening set. Asia Jones (Rocky Mount, N.C.) put the Vikings on the board with the first kill of the contest. The Vikings and Warriors knotted the set up twice at 9-9 and 12-12 before ECSU put together a 5-0 run to take a 17-15 lead over the Warriors. Alexis Blackwell (Rarford, N.C.) sealed the set for the Vikings with a service ace.

Set Two: The Warriors began the set with a 7-2 lead, but the Vikings did not let up. The Vikings went on a 6-0 run and a kill by Dangerfield  gave  ECSU a 13-11 lead. The match remained close, but SWU outscored ECSU 8-1 to claim the set.

Set Three: The Vikings initiated the scoring in the third set, but five unanswered points by the Warriors left the Vikings trailing SWU 5-1. ECSU struck back late in the set, but the effort was not enough.

Fourth Set: The Golden Knights controlled the fourth set, a series of runs by SWU ailed the Vikings.

Next Match: The Vikings will be back in action Tuesday, October 15 to take on Erskine College in Due West, SC. The match is set to start at 1 p.m.
