PETERSBURG, VA-Virginia State University defended their home court on senior day with a three set sweep of Elizabeth City State University Saturday afternoon at Daniel Gymnasium.
The Trojans wrap up the regular season at 18-8 overall with a 12-3 conference mark. They have secured the number two seed out of the Northern Division for the CIAA Volleyball Championship November 20-22 in Fayetteville, NC.
As for Saturday's matchup the Trojans disposed of ECSU in straight sets, 25-9, 25-4, 25-15. Brookie Dargan paced VSU with a match high 12 kills while Grand Roberson chipped in with 11 kills versus no hitting errors. As a team Virginia State hit a solid .457 percent in the match and displayed a lethal service game with a combined 13 aces.
Dierdre Carter had game highs in both aces (5) and digs (9).
The Lady Vikings close out the 2015 season with a 1-18 overall record with a 1-15 mark in the CIAA.
