RICHMOND, VA- Fernanda Faustino had 14 kill and 11 digs to lead Virginia Union University to a three set sweep of Elizabeth City State University Thursday night in volleyball action.
With the victory the Lady Panthers move to 6-5 on the year (CIAA 4-2) and sit at a tie for second place in the CIAA Northern Division.
Faustino also added a match high 6 of VUU's 12 services aces in the three set triumph (25-17, 25-16, 25-16). Her teammate Arianna Bethel was equally efficient with 10 kills versus only one hitting error and Nicole Logan finished with a game best 10 digs.
Virginia Union more than doubled ECSU as a team in kills (40-18) and assists (38-15) and defensively shut the Lady Vikings down with a combined 16 assisted blocks on the evening.
Emmesha White was the top performer for the Lady Vikings with 8 kills. ECSU slips to 1-9 overall and 1-6 in conference play.
The Lady Vikings will return to action on Monday versus Chowan University in Murfreesboro. Game time is scheduled for 6pm.
