ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Viking volleyball team fell in straight sets to UNC-Pembroke 25-20, 25-18, 25-10 Tuesday afternoon at the RL Vaughan Center.
The Lady Braves were led by Cecilia Brandon and Nicole Matthews who tied with a match high 10 kills apiece. The win was the fourth straight for UNCP who improves to 5-6 overall on the season. The Lady Vikings are winless in the all-time series with UNC-Pembroke (0-10).
Rosetta Becerra paced Elizabeth City State with 7 kills and Tracie Twine tied a match high 10 digs with UNCP's Ka'asha Jefferies.
ECSU's offense struggled in the match as they were held to just .092 hitting on the afternoon. The Lady Braves defense was stifling winning the battle of digs 32-23 while amassing 10 assisted blocks.
ECSU (2-6) will open up Northern Division play this weekend at Lincoln University on Sunday and Bowie State on Monday.
