RICHMOND, VA- The Elizabeth City State University volleyball team was victorious in a five set road win over Virginia Union University Monday night at Barco-Stevens Hall.

The Lady Panthers were led by Kristin Madison who had a team best 23 kills. Madison was one of three seniors playing in their final home game at Barco-Stevens hall. The loss drops VUU to 11-15 on the year as the Lady Panthers hold the fourth and final qualifying spot in the CIAA North for the CIAA volleyball tournament in Fayetteville, NC November 14-16.

Rosetta Becerra paced ECSU with match highs in both kills (24) and digs (33) including 5 of each in the deciding set. The Lady Vikings won the final set 15-11 after taking the second and third sets 25-22 and 25-23). Kelsey Smith also turned in a double-double of 18 kills and 13 digs and added 5 solo blocks in the match. Smith currently leads the CIAA in blocks per set with an average of 1.08.

With one match left in the regular season, the Lady Vikings have secured the third seed in the Northern Division. ECSU (8-15, CIAA 8-7) will face Virginia State University on Friday at 6pm in Petersburg, VA.
