Final Stats
ELIZABETH CITY, NC-The Elizabeth City State University volleyball team closed out the regular season with a three set loss to UNC-Pembroke (25-18,25-15,25-12) Wednesday afternoon at the RL Vaughan Center.
The Lady Braves raise their record to 12-17 while ECSU slips to 10-10 overall.
In set one UNCP trailed 9-4 after a 5-0 run behind the service game of Emmesha White. The Lady Braves then rallied to tie at 15 apiece before ending the set on a 10-3 run to take it 25-18. Pembroke opened set two on a 9-1 run and never looked back in route to a 25-15 win and held ECSU to only 5 kills versus 5 errors in the 25-12 closeout set three.
The Lady Braves were paced by Morgan Westphal and Sabrina Gonzalez with 12 and 11 kills respectively. UNCP doubled ECSU as a team in kills 43-22 and committed only 13 hitting errors to 21 for the Lady Vikings.
Kelsey Smith finished with a team high 9 kills for ECSU.
ECSU will begin Pool Play at the 2013 CIAA Volleyball Tournament on Sunday, November 10th. They will face the #2 seed from the Southern Division, Fayetteville State University at 9:00am on the campus of Virginia State University.
