LADY VIKINGS PLACE THREE ON ALL-CIAA SECOND, ROOKIE TEAMS

Nov. 12, 2013

HAMPTON, VA-Three members of the Elizabeth City State University volleyball team have been named to the 2013 All-CIAA Second and All-Rookie Teams as released by the conference office Tuesday morning.

Kelsey Smith and Krystal Sawyer have been voted to the 2013 All-CIAA Volleyball Second Team while freshman Libero, Grace Barrett, has been named to the 2013 All-Rookie Team.

After being named the preseason team back in August, Kelsey Smith follows up with her first post season All-CIAA honor. She was second on the team in kills and led ECSU in total blocks with 74 on the year. Her block per set average was best in the CIAA at 0.99.

Krystal Sawyer was ECSU's starting setter this season and finished the year 479 assists (3rd in the CIAA) and 27 services aces. Grace Barrett was efficient at the Libero position for the Lady Vikings and earned All-Rookie honors, finishing with a team best 227, good for 12th overall in the CIAA.

ECSU finished the season 10-12 overall and wrapped up the year at last weekend's CIAA Tournament in Petersburg.
