Final Stats

PETERSBURG, VA- Fayetteville State University topped Elizabeth City State volleyball in three sets Sunday morning in the opening round of the 2013CIAA Volleyball Tournament hosted by Virginia State University.

FSU, the #2 seed in the CIAA Southern Division improves to 16-7 on the year defeating ECSU 25-6, 25-19, 26-24. The Lady Broncos move on in the winner's bracket and will face the winner of the 11am matchup between host and Northern Division top seed Virginia State University and the #4 seed out of the South, Johnson C. Smith.

Rosetta Becerra was the only Lady Viking to tally double figures with 11 kills. The Lady Broncos were paced by Jolene Thompson's 12 kills while Samira Lewis led FSU's service game with 4 aces.

As a team FSU racked up 10 aces and had 44 kills, doubling ECSU's 20 kill output.

The Lady Vikings will await the loser of the VSU/JCSU matchup and will square off at 1pm in the double elimination tournament.
