ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Aubree Parker had a match high 10 kills and 2 assisted blocks to lead Virginia State University past Elizabeth City State University in straight sets (25-13,25-17,25-17) Tuesday night at the RL Vaughan Center.

Virginia State (12-3, CIAA 11-2) now moves into a tie for first place in the CIAA North with Chowan University as both teams sport identical 6-1 Division records. The Lady Vikings slip to 6-2 in the North with two division games left on their schedule; at Virginia State on October 29th and home versus Virginia Union on November 4th.

The Lady Trojans opened the game with an 8-1 run at the start of the match and never looked back holding ECSU to just 13 points in set one. In each set the Lady Viking struggled offensively in each set, two of which they totaled more errors than kills. Their best hitting performance came in set two with 10 kills but the attack game was negated as they totaled 10 errors as well.

Defensively ECSU was able to keep pace with 13 assisted blocks at the net. Kelsey Smith continues to lead the Lady Vikings in solo blocks on the season, adding two more to her total in Tuesday night's match.

Rosetta Becerra finished just shy of a double-double with 9 kills and a game high 14 digs.
