ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Elizabeth City Stat University second year coach Brenda Brown recently announced the signing of two volleyball signees for the upcoming 2012 season.
Coach Brown's first recruiting class will boast local talent with the additions of Alicia Reynolds from Havelock, NC and Krystal Sawyer from Elizabeth City.
Krystal Sawyer, a 5-4 defensive specialist, played her high school career at Northeastern High School. Last season the Lady Eagles went undefeated in conference play, finished 23-3 overall and were the runner-ups for the 2A State Championship. Alicia Reynolds, a 5-11 middle blocker played at Havelock High school, led the Lady Rams in kills with 152 and had 30 solo blocks in 2011.
They will look to contribute immediately to a Lady Viking team that returns three lettermen from last season. Behind First Team All-CIAA performer Whitney Green and All-Rookie and Second Team honoree Kyla Shute ECSU finished 18-12 overall, good for second place in the CIAA Northern Division.
