Final Stats

HAMPTON, VA- Chowan University moved to 2-0 in pool play at the 2012 CIAA Volleyball Tournament with a three set sweep of Elizabeth City State University 25-18, 25-19, 25-21 at the Boo Williams Sportsplex.

Kyla Shute was ECSU's leading attacker with 8 kills and 12 digs. The Lady Vikings played a solid net game totaling 16 overall team blocks however the Hawks were equally as stingy on defense, suppressing ECSU's offense with 61 digs while amassing 8 services aces.

Karina Monroe led the way for the Hawks with a 15 kill versus no error effort as Chowan (20-5 overall) claims a spot in one of tomorrow's semi final matches. They will face off against the other Pool A semifinalist in Livingstone, also 2-0 on the day, at 7pm to determine the final seeding for the day.

On the flip side the Lady Vikings fall to 12-12 overall and are eliminated from the CIAA Tournament. They will finish the season with a 5pm matchup against Saint Augustine's University. Like ECSU, the Lady Falcons were also bested by Livingstone and Chowan on Friday.
